'Siri AI' Lawsuit Update: Apple to Pay Owners of These iPhone Models

Apple agreed in May to pay $250 million to settle a U.S. class action lawsuit over Siri AI's delayed launch, with eligible iPhone users potentially receiving up to a $95 payout. This week, a California court held a hearing regarding preliminary approval of the settlement, but the judge has not yet issued a ruling. Payouts are unlikely to begin until late this year or early next year if approved, and no action is required from eligible customers at this time. The lawsuit stemmed from Apple previewing new Siri capabilities in June 2024, then delaying the personalized version in March 2025, leading to allegations of false advertising. Apple agreed to settle "to stay focused" on delivering innovative products. Eligible claimants must reside in the U.S. and have purchased any iPhone 15 Pro or iPhone 16 model between June 10, 2024 and March 29, 2025. Each eligible claim will receive a per-device payment of $25, which could increase up to $95 if the total number of claims is lower than anticipated. A settlement website with an online claims form is expected to go live in the coming months.
