Nexus Mods have updated their generative AI-made mod tagging policy, dividing a single "AI-Generated Content" tag into three more specific labels for more precise search filtering. Announced by community manager Myrddin in a post on July 29th, the change follows user feedback that the original tag was insufficient and did not allow for nuance in filtering mods. The three new tags are: AI-Generated Content, for mods with "AI-Generated code, user interface elements, voices, dialogue, translations, music, in-game AI-generated assets"; AI Media, for mods with AI-generated promo art, thumbnails, videos, mod page descriptions or other media not part of their in-game makeup; and AI Assisted, for mods with "developer-led code, content, or mod assets, with limited AI involvement" or AI use for texture upscaling, audio upscaling/cleaning, and concept art not in the final build. The AI Assisted tag is not for mods "primarily generated with AI", which should be filed under AI-Generated Content, and requires the modder to provide "significant evidence of development and proven knowledge". Nexus hope the new tags will "make searching mod content easier by adding tag nuance".
