Apple will launch a significant redesign of its Messages app with the iOS 27 update, featuring AI-powered capabilities. The major update is likely to be released publicly in September 2026, while beta testing is accessible via the company’s Beta Software Program. Powered by Apple’s upgraded Siri AI and Apple Intelligence, iOS 27 introduces AI-generated previews for lengthy text messages and enables Siri to draft messages matching a user's writing style. The app will offer intelligent one-tap actions, including adding events to the Calendar app, creating notes, calling contacts, sending emails, saving shared photos, and capturing photos instantly. Apple is also upgrading messaging with Android users by supporting the RCS 2.7 standard, with improvements such as in-line replies, emoji reactions, message editing and deletion, and digital drawings. iOS 27 brings a dedicated Drawing feature for sketches, and the sending progress bar has been redesigned. Users can disable the microphone button in the Messages text field through the Settings app. The update was announced during its Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) and is expected alongside the company's next generation of iPhones.
