Meta earnings reveal cash flow drops 91% — while Zuckerberg writes op…

Meta reported second-quarter earnings of $15.85 billion, or $6.18 per share, down 14% from $18.34 billion, or $7.14 per share, a year earlier, while revenue grew 28% to $60.8 billion from $47.52 billion. Analysts expected earnings of $7.19 per share on revenue of $60.22 billion. Daily active users on Meta’s “family of apps” grew 3% to $3.6 billion; Zuckerberg noted Instagram reached 2 billion daily users and Threads has 500 million monthly active users. The company had 75,472 employees as of June 30, a 1% decrease year-over-year, including roughly 8,000 laid-off workers. Free cash flow dropped 91% to $784 million from $8.55 billion a year earlier. Meta forecast third-quarter revenue between $61 billion and $64 billion, below the $63.14 billion analyst estimate, and raised its 2026 expense outlook to $165 billion to $169 billion, incorporating $2.4 billion in legal expenses. Second-quarter expenses were $42.03 billion, up 55% year-over-year, including $2.40 billion in legal charges and $1.18 billion in severance.
