Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang said AI could create tens of thousands of six-figure construction jobs, as technology giants race to build data centers worth $7 trillion by the end of the decade. Huang called it “the world's largest infrastructure build-out in human history,” adding that it will create many jobs. He previously expressed similar views at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, in January, noting roles for plumbers, electricians, construction workers, and steelworkers. A McKinsey report cited a shortage of construction workers, as skills for building “chip, computer and AI factories” are not taught in universities, with some related roles already offering $100,000 without a college degree. The report also said around 130,000 trained electricians, 240,000 construction laborers, and 150,000 construction supervisors will be needed in the US alone to meet AI industry demand. Huang said, “Everybody should be able to make a great living. You don’t need to have a PhD in computer science to do so.”
