Elon Musk announced that xAI's AI-powered video generation tool, Grok Imagine, will create a full-length adaptation of Homer's 'The Odyssey' before the end of the year. Musk made the announcement while quote-sharing a post by X user Heavy Pulp, who shared a three-minute dialogue scene from Homer's 'The Odyssey' built on Grok Imagine. Musk wrote: "Before this year ends, Grok Imagine will make a full-length movie of The Odyssey that is historically accurate and true to the art of Homer." Grok Imagine allows users to generate short animated videos from text prompts or animate still images, supports image-to-video generation, and can natively generate synchronised audio. The tool currently supports video clips of up to 30 seconds. The announcement comes as artificial intelligence is increasingly used across filmmaking stages, from pre-production to post-production, with major studios and independent creators using AI for visual effects, rotoscoping, and environment generation.
