Anthropic CEO Says His Employees Are a Bunch of Untrustworthy Rats

Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei is reportedly concerned that new hires at the $965 billion AI firm are joining for money rather than its mission, according to Axios, citing a source familiar with the matter. The sentiment is noted as ironic given Anthropic’s professed safety-first mission, which Amodei pursued after leaving OpenAI partly over commercialization concerns. The company is moving toward an anticipated trillion-dollar IPO. Earlier this year, Anthropic dropped a safety pledge to stop training an AI model if guardrails were not guaranteed. Despite clashing with the Pentagon over safe deployment, Anthropic let the military use its Claude AI to select targets in Iran and is reportedly helping the US National Security Agency use its Mythos model, described as extremely dangerous, for cyberwarfare against China. It was also caught using hidden code to spy on Chinese users. Amodei has promised AI will wipe out half of all entry-level office jobs in the next few years.
