Richard Osman said American popular culture is under the control of "billionaires" who all have "quite thin skins" after Amazon MGM scrapped the almost-finished Luca Guadagnino film *Artificial*, which stars Andrew Garfield as OpenAI CEO Sam Altman. The film dramatised the brief period when Altman was suddenly ousted as OpenAI's CEO in 2023 before being rehired. Amazon stated it believes *Artificial* "will be better served if it were released by a different studio," with reports that the move came after Mike Hopkins watched a cut which proved "markedly darker" in tone than expected. Osman noted on *The Rest is Entertainment* podcast that "A24 passed on it. Netflix have passed on it," adding that "almost everybody is passing on it." He highlighted Amazon's recent partnership with OpenAI, which contributed $50bn in OpenAI's record-breaking $110bn funding round in February. Co-presenter Marina Hyde said she knows writers with projects about tech barons that have not been released, stating, "These are not sort of small spec script writers. These are people with big overall deals who are tackling the big subjects, the big people of the a."
