OpenAI has introduced GPT-5.6 Sol, a new version of its ChatGPT model that promises "more focused answers, adapts its level of detail to the question, avoids unnecessary formatting, and offers a helpful correction when simply agreeing wouldn't be useful." The update addresses user complaints about filler words, slow responses, and affirming answers even when the user is wrong. The release also mentions "more reliable facts," though hallucinations remain a part of AI. The latest updates do not affect users of the ChatGPT extension for the previous version of Siri, but the Mac utilities and iOS app will gain new features and performance. OpenAI’s example of a brief weather summary with a widget resembles Siri AI’s approach. A "Think" button is included, drawing a parallel to Siri AI’s on-device versus server-side model differences, where smaller on-device models seek less computationally expensive results. AppleInsider urges users to avoid AI-generated content in finished work, noting that lawyers, doctors, and financial advisors have encountered problems relying heavily on AI.
