Elon Musk predicts AI and robots will make work optional and create "universal high income," with governments providing for all. Michael Burry, known for "The Big Short," replied "False. There will be revolution first." Musk's prediction followed an essay by Chamath Palihapitiya titled "The Great Descent," which stated the "cost of expertise is falling to zero." Musk has said "Universal HIGH INCOME via checks issued by the Federal government is the best way to deal with unemployment caused by AI" and that saving for retirement could be "irrelevant" in 20 years. Burry, who said on Substack he was shorting Tesla, wrote in late January that "Elon is an American treasure but also a desperately incentivized futurist." Ray Dalio has warned AI could exacerbate wealth inequality, increasing the risk of internal strife and even civil war, and stated a redistribution policy in the AI era must redistribute more than money.
