Odyssey, an AI startup focused on building advanced world models, has raised $310 million in a Series B funding round, giving the company a post-money valuation of $1.45 billion. The round was led by Natural Capital and included investors such as Amazon, AMD Ventures, Google Ventures, EQT, In-Q-Tel, Google Chief Scientist Jeff Dean, and Y Combinator CEO Garry Tan. Instead of generating text, Odyssey builds systems that understand concepts like movement, space, object interactions, and cause-and-effect relationships, with applications in robotics, autonomous vehicles, manufacturing, logistics, gaming, and simulation. The company operates from Palo Alto, London, and Zurich with a team of around 55 employees. Along with the funding, Odyssey announced a strategic partnership with Amazon Web Services (AWS), making AWS its preferred cloud provider and granting access to Amazon’s Trainium chips and large-scale computing infrastructure. Odyssey has developed research projects including Odyssey-2 Max, Starchild-1, and Agora-1, focusing on physics simulation, real-time multimodal interaction, and coordination between multiple AI agents.
