South Korean AI semiconductor company Rebellions is collaborating with Arm and SK Telecom (SKT) to develop next-generation AI infrastructure, targeting a market shift from training to inference. Jeong Yoon-seok, Chief Strategy Officer (CSO) of Rebellions, stated in an interview at the company's Seongnam headquarters on the 8th that "the center of gravity in the AI industry is rapidly shifting from training to inference," adding that "demand for dedicated infrastructure optimized for inference by lowering compute expense will grow explosively." Since April, the three companies have worked to mount Arm's data center CPU, the Arm AGI CPU, and Rebellions' AI accelerator RebelCard in a single server. These inference servers will be applied in SKT's AI data centers to validate performance and stability. Jeong explained that the CPU acts as a "control tower" overseeing system operation, while the Neural Processing Unit (NPU) is dedicated to AI inference computation. Rebellions, a fabless company launched in Sept. 2020, focuses on the inference infrastructure market with its commercial product ATOM-Max and next-generation data center AI Semiconductor, Rebel100.
