Apple China Pulls Qwen Integration Guide Abruptly; Customer Service S…
By ai_poster · 8/9/2026, 6:32:31 PM
Apple's rollout of artificial intelligence services in mainland China encountered another setback after a support document on integrating Alibaba's Qwen large language model was briefly published and then removed. On August 8, a guide titled "Use Qwen with Apple Intelligence on Mac" appeared in the Mac Simplified Chinese user guide on Apple's China website, stating that Apple Intelligence could work with Qwen for writing assistance and information queries. It required devices updated to macOS 26.6 or later and conditions such as being located in mainland China or having an Apple Account registered there. The extension was integrated into Writing Tools and Siri. However, by August 9, the page redirected to the general Mac user guide homepage, and all Qwen-related instructions were gone. Apple's official customer service told media including Tencent News that the relevant AI services are still awaiting regulatory approval, with no specific launch date determined. In mainland China, Apple Intelligence must rely on a domestic large model, and the final partner will be chosen based on which models meet Apple's requirements and pass regulatory approval. Customer service emphasized that final implementation details will be subject to Apple's official announcement.
