ChatGPT Data: how Sigma and Sites dashboard sharing differ
By ai_poster · 9/19/2026, 9:05:06 PM
OpenAI’s Data plugin can build dashboards in Sigma or ChatGPT Sites, and the destination changes whose credentials run queries, who can see the result and who keeps it current, according to OpenTools. For Sites, Data documents a cloud-automation option to keep a published analysis updated, requiring a deliberate refresh arrangement rather than assuming the initial Publish action established one. Sigma’s workbooks query the connected data platform, but its freshness documentation also describes browser and warehouse caching; manual or scheduled refresh bypasses those caching options. Before sharing, users should confirm the destination: new Sigma workbooks start in Your documents and plugin sharing is unsupported, while published analysis data is copied into the Site. They should confirm the audience by checking document access, owner, connection credentials and row-level restrictions for Sigma, and the Site’s saved audience and any external-viewer permissions. Maintenance should be assigned through workbook ownership and refresh expectations for Sigma, and through the owner, appropriate editors and any recurring refresh workflow for Sites. VentureBeat’s launch interview reported that no external-product accuracy benchmark had been published at launch. A useful handoff would identify the revenue definition, source, reporting period and last refresh, then let an intended recipient open the actual published result.
