DEFRA and Natural England use Databricks to accelerate peatland restoration with AI. Working with Natural England and Databricks, DEFRA is using AI to accelerate peatland mapping across England. Tasks that once took a week of manual work can now be completed in less than a day, saving weeks or even months each year. By automating the mapping of peatlands and restoration features, the project helps protect critical habitats that store carbon, support biodiversity and provide drinking water while advancing nature recovery at a national scale.
