IT/BT Minister Priyank Kharge held talks with Anthropic India Managing Director Irina Ghose in Bengaluru on Saturday regarding setting up new centres of excellence and using datasets for “public good and strengthening citizen services.” Anthropic is a US-based AI company that builds advanced artificial intelligence models, including the Claude chatbot. The discussions focused on building advanced and future-ready AI skillsets, forging partnerships for skilling and co-creation, and explored Karnataka’s transition from e-governance to i-governance (intelligence-driven governance) by harnessing AI. The meeting also explored opportunities to design sustainable and scalable AI programmes for government and citizens, while strengthening collaboration between startups and Global Capability Centres (GCCs). According to the minister’s statement, he and Ghose discussed reimagining the use of existing public-sector data through AI to safeguard public interest and make citizen services more accessible and user-friendly, as well as developing systems that use AI to enable faster, evidence-based decision-making and deliver public services more efficiently using reliable data.
