LG AI Research showcased industrial AI applications powered by its large language model EXAONE at the International Conference on Machine Learning (ICML) 2026, held at Coex in southeastern Seoul from Monday through Friday, the first time the conference has been held in Korea. The company highlighted EXAONE Discovery, an AI platform for materials and drug development that reads scientific papers, extracts molecular structures, and proposes new compounds. LG AI Research secured patents for this workflow earlier this year and applied it to cosmetic formulations, battery and semiconductor materials, and new drug candidates. The company displayed two AI-assisted materials: Rhamsydil, a hair-loss care ingredient discovered after screening more than 420,000 candidate compounds in a single day, and an immersion cooling fluid for AI data centers. LG AI Research also demonstrated EXAONE Business Intelligence, a financial AI agent analyzing roughly 8,000 listed companies in Korea and the United States daily, and EXAONE Data Foundry, a platform that improves data productivity by more than 1,000 times and increases data quality by an average of over 20 percent. In a pilot with the National Pension Service, the platform generated more than 10,000 specialized data entries per day. The company is also presenting 14 research papers at the conference.
