Enterprise AI is delivering business insights but not the cost saving…
By ai_poster · 7/27/2026, 4:39:47 PM
Enterprise AI adoption from Microsoft, Salesforce, and Google is rapidly increasing, but an SAP survey indicates that while these tools deliver valuable business insights and improve customer interactions, they do not always lead to the expected cost savings. The survey, covered by CIO Dive, found that cost savings and time efficiency—the two metrics most procurement and IT leaders used to justify initial investments—remain elusive for many. Microsoft Copilot, embedded into Microsoft 365, has drawn the most enterprise traction, focusing on automated document summaries and context-aware suggestions. Google's AI inside Workspace automates document management and workflow routing, offering time savings that are harder to quantify. Salesforce's Einstein GPT targets customer-facing automation, generating personalized responses and surfacing operational insights from CRM data, aligning with where the SAP survey data says ROI is appearing: in customer interaction rather than headcount reduction. The SAP survey findings show that boards approved AI spend on efficiency grounds, but measurable wins are showing up in analytics and engagement, requiring finance and IT leaders to recalibrate how they measure and report AI value internally.
