Netrasemi, a Kerala-based deep-tech startup founded by Jyothis Indirabhai, Sreejith Varma, and Deepa Geetha and backed by Zoho, has launched its first artificial intelligence chip, the A2000. The chip has been tested and declared production-ready, positioned among the early AI and machine learning chips designed in India. The A2000 is built for compact, power-efficient edge devices such as smart cameras, edge AI boxes, and intelligent video gateways, rather than large data centres. Built on TSMC’s 12nm process, it includes in-house engines for neural processing, computer vision, image handling, and security. Netrasemi is running early trials of the A2000 with three customers in the surveillance and automotive sectors. The company plans to begin mass production at TSMC’s Taiwan facility in 2027, targeting a commercial launch for mid-2027. Netrasemi has raised ₹125 crore in total funding from investors including Zoho and Unicorn India Ventures, and was selected for ₹15 crore support under the government’s Design Linked Incentive scheme in 2023. The startup has also developed the R1000 AI/ML MCU, a second chip aimed at the IoT sensor market.
