Qatar University (QU) is accelerating the integration of artificial intelligence across its academic and administrative operations as part of a broader digital transformation strategy. The university shifted from standalone digital initiatives to an integrated institutional system based on pillars including smart services, research and innovation, and responsible governance of emerging technologies. QU is building an integrated system for AI and digital transformation through projects such as an AI-powered academic advisor platform, an AI research and innovation center, and training programs. Associate Vice President for Technology and Information Security Dr Nayef Alyafei said QU possesses a digital infrastructure among the most modern in the State of Qatar, including an advanced hybrid data center with flexible cloud computing systems and ultra-fast networks. High-performance computing (HPC) systems have been developed for researchers and students in digital simulation and AI, alongside attention to cybersecurity and data, supporting a knowledge-based economy in line with Qatar National Vision 2030. Alyafei noted the preparation of a comprehensive digital transformation plan, with initiatives identified over the next three years focusing on building digital capabilities of staff, upgrading infrastructure, information security, and technical systems, and building AI and data analysis capabilities.
