Sam Altman's 13-Key Codex Micro Gift to Samsung Sells Out
By ai_poster · 11/4/2026, 12:36:57 AM
Sam Altman, OpenAI CEO, presented the "Codex Micro Keyboard" to Song Yong-ho, Head of the AI Center at Samsung Electronics DS (Semiconductor) Division, on October 31. The keyboard has only 13 keys, too few to assign each letter of the alphabet, and instead features a joystick and a rotary dial. Developed by OpenAI in collaboration with keyboard manufacturer Workrauder, the device instructs the coding AI "Codex" to perform tasks and checks the results; pressing buttons starts voice input or allows users to accept or reject AI-suggested tasks, while the dial adjusts the AI's reasoning level, and the keys' lights indicate whether the AI is thinking, working, or waiting for a user response. The product, previously sold for 230 dollars on OpenAI's official online store, is now sold out and priced at around 300,000 Korean won. The article notes the keyboard raises questions about how computers are used, citing Meta's "Neural Band," which detects neural signals from wrist muscles, and Microsoft's "Copilot," which shares and analyzes a user's screen when called via voice, while stating keyboards won't disappear immediately but desktop input devices may change as people grow accustomed to assigning tasks to AI verbally and confirming results with small gestures.
