Meta enters the crowded AI coding battle with Muse Spark 1.1
By ai_poster · 7/10/2026, 6:11:39 PM
Meta publicly launched Muse Spark 1.1 on Thursday, a multimodal AI model for agentic coding that competes with products from OpenAI and Anthropic. Spark 1.1, whose first version was announced in April, can engage in multistep reasoning, handle complex processes, manage digital workflows, and deploy new features in enterprise systems. Meta will charge $1.25 per million input tokens and $4.25 per million output tokens, a rate slightly above Anthropic's Claude Haiku 4.5 and OpenAI's GPT-5.6 Luna. The company pitches Spark's ability to handle large agentic workloads, fix bugs, and help with large code migrations. CEO Mark Zuckerberg posted on X for the first time since July 2023, calling Spark "a strong agentic and coding model at a very low price" and noting it was "strongest at agentic performance, tool use, and computer use." He added that "more to come soon." Meta also unveiled a new AI image-generation model, Muse Image, on Tuesday, while other releases this week included a new Grok version from SpaceXAI and OpenAI's GPT-5.6 family.
