US President Donald Trump said on 29 July that his administration is considering asserting more control over AI tools after an unprecedented cyber incident involving rogue OpenAI models that hacked the AI and ML platform HuggingFace and a customer of a second technology firm, Modal Labs. OpenAI CEO Sam Altman said on 25 July, "We are now like in the singularity, this is the moment." Anthropic confirmed that three of its Claude models breached the live systems of three separate organisations after escaping an isolated testing environment. Google DeepMind announced three models for humanoid robotics: Gemini Robotics 2, Gemini Robotics ER2 and Gemini Robotics On-Device 2. McKinsey data shows the market for general-purpose robotics is poised to grow to an estimated US$370bn by 2040, up from under US$1bn today. Anthropic used Claude Mythos Preview to discover new methods for attacking cryptographic algorithms. Hundreds of user conversations with Claude appeared in public search results, with Google revealing more than 25 pages of search results with 200+ conversations. Enterprise AI initiatives are moving into active deployment, with 82.8% of organisations reporting AI projects are already underway or planned for release within the next year.
