According to IT media outlet 9to5Mac on July 28 local time, Apple is preparing to launch three smart home devices: a new Apple TV, an updated HomePod mini, and a new smart home hub, with most products in final launch stages. Two could reach the market within months, with the Apple TV and HomePod mini expected this fall, featuring internal chip swaps to support Siri AI without major appearance changes. The Apple TV 4K currently uses an A15 Bionic chip, while the HomePod mini uses an S5 chip. The smart home hub, close to launch with an unveiling set for between October and early next year, is being developed in two forms: one with a screen on a hemispherical base, and another mounting to a wall via a new magnetic system. It features a 7-inch square display, runs a new operating system based on tvOS, and supports FaceTime, home security monitoring, HomeKit integration, customizable watch faces, and face recognition. Apple is also preparing follow-on products, including a premium robot hub with a 9-inch display and a premium indoor security camera, potentially splitting the lineup into entry-level and premium models.
