Millennium Taps Anthropic for AI Risk Desk
By ai_poster · 8/8/2026, 3:20:35 AM
Millennium Management, one of the world's biggest hedge funds, is bringing Anthropic inside through a deal announced on August 6, 2026, that ramps up testing of Anthropic's newest frontier models on some of Millennium's most complex work. The project sits under an AI laboratory Millennium recently launched to get early looks at AI tools, evaluate them, work with AI developers, and hire strong technical staff. Anthropic, the maker of Claude and Claude Code, says the fund was an early user, with staff now using the tools for software writing, product development, and workflow improvements across many of its more than 340 investment teams. Risk control sits at the heart of a multistrategy hedge fund, as these firms run many trading teams with separate goals, risk limits, and borrowing, so they have to cut losses fast before a bad bet spreads. In July, investors rushed out of AI and chip stocks because they doubted the industry's very large spending was sustainable. A firm overseeing more than $92 billion is making a serious bet that these tools can protect capital. Millennium's chief information officer, Vlad Torgovnik, said the fund believes "AI can help set a new bar for what our people can achieve," adding that the partnership "shows how AI is driving innovation in core parts of our business while keeping human judgment at the center of decision making."
