At WWDC 2026, Apple unveiled a powerful, agentic version of Siri with its own dedicated app, designed to work across Apple devices. However, the AI health features shown were lacking compared to Google's. The existing Workout Buddy feature was improved: users can now get guidance and encouragement during exercise while just wearing a watch, without needing their phone as in watchOS 26. New insights like heart rate zones are built in. Other expanded health features include the inclusion of menopausal and perimenopausal conditions in cycle tracking and improved accuracy of treadmill metrics. Siri AI can also look for healthy recipes and describe stretching routines. Despite rumors of a dedicated health and fitness AI model, nothing materialized this year. The article notes that the Google Fitbit Air, which is screenless, uses a health coach in the Google Health app on a phone, allowing custom-built workouts with video instruction and adjustments for illness or injuries. Apple already has Apple Fitness+ content, but a health coaching feature was not rolled out. Additionally, watchOS 27 will only be available to a handful of modern watches.
