miHoYo has launched BSide: Olivia Lin on Steam, a free early-access software featuring a Shanghai-based virtual girl who can play piano, read letters, and live on a desktop. Lei Technology conducted a full review, noting the character has a decent appearance but limited features. The app replaces the desktop wallpaper with an interface showing a room with a Shanghai night view, a piano, and vinyl records. Current features include customizing the character's status, writing letters, listening to performances, and uploading MIDI files to generate animated videos. Users can choose between two piano-singing states and three desktop states: a full-body waiting state, a casual mode on the sofa, and a creative mode at a desk. The animations are pre-rendered rather than real-time, though miHoYo's character modeling and motion capture quality are evident.
