The Texas A&M Engineering Experiment Station (TEES) has selected Dell Technologies to design and build an advanced research platform, funded by the State of Texas, called the Innovative Growth in Next Generation AI Technology Ecosystem (IGNITE). This high-performance computing (HPC) platform supports federally sponsored, academic and industry research across disciplines including energy, healthcare, robotics, advanced manufacturing, materials discovery and national security. Dr. Vince Kellen, Chief Information Officer of the Texas A&M University System, stated that the future of research depends on providing access to the right technologies and expertise. Fran Bogle, SVP of Higher Education and Healthcare at Dell Technologies, noted that IGNITE gives TEES the AI and compute foundation to compete for federal and state research programmes with security controls. Designed with Dell AI Services experts, IGNITE introduces a policy-based Zero Trust architecture, allowing multiple user groups to access compute resources securely across projects with different governance requirements. Dr. Robert H. Bishop, Vice Chancellor and Dean of Texas A&M Engineering, said the platform expands what they can take on, supporting increasingly complex, secure research.
