A Reddit user, Reddit_2049, successfully unlocked a BIOS-locked HP 15-dw1036ne laptop using Anthropic's Claude Code AI tool, according to a post on the Claude AI subreddit. The laptop, which packs a 10th-gen Intel processor, came with BIOS version F.68. The Redditor used a CH341A chip flasher and code disassembly tools, but the system displayed a 'BIOS Corruption Detected' message if any modification was detected. After finding no previous examples of unlocking this specific model, Reddit_2049 asked Claude Code to analyze a backup BIOS dump. The AI successfully applied three levels of patches, including finding the RSA-2048 DXE-FV signature check bypass and 55 hidden setup fields, as well as revealing advanced BIOS configuration tabs. As a result, the Redditor now has a fully open BIOS on the laptop. A Python script that completes the entire process on this particular HP laptop is shared at the bottom of the Reddit post, which backs up the current BIOS, implements all three patches, and leaves the HP 15-dw1036ne unlocked. The article notes that the script might not work with other laptops, even if they are the same model.
