In a podcast interview with journalist David Jiménez on *El Director*, artificial intelligence expert Jon Hernández predicted that AI will cure cancer, stating, “I have absolutely no doubt that artificial intelligence will cure cancer... none at all. And I believe it’s going to happen sooner rather than later.” Hernández referenced Demis Hassabis, CEO of Google DeepMind, who “says we’ll cure every disease within ten years,” adding that “at the very least we’ll be able to cure or effectively treat them within a decade.” Hernández also emphasized that “science will make more progress over the next ten years than it did during the previous one hundred,” noting that “a hundred years ago, we were performing lobotomies on people because we believed they had mental illnesses,” while today that practice is recognized as “appalling and deeply primitive.”
