Square Enix has updated the boxart for Kingdom Hearts Collection [1-3] following accusations that the original image was made with the help of AI. The new version is starting to appear at some retailers. Fans noticed inconsistent details and warped parts in the art, leading to immediate AI accusations. Bluesky user Kahene pointed out that series creator Tetsuya Nomura made the original art, but it was then likely put into an AI to change character positions. On July 30, GameSpot received a statement from Square Enix denying the allegations: “We’re aware of feedback regarding recent Kingdom Hearts visuals. These assets were created by our development team without the use of generative AI, and the issues resulted from human error. Quality is extremely important to us, and updated assets have been implemented where appropriate.” The Kingdom Hearts Collection [1-3] is coming to Nintendo Switch 2, with the original Nintendo Switch also getting Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 + 2.5 Remix. All of these Kingdom Hearts releases are planned for October 8, 2026 on Nintendo platforms. Kingdom Hearts 4 is also confirmed for Nintendo Switch 2.
