Google has canceled the standalone AI Studio mobile app before launch, despite nearly 800,000 people having pre-ordered it across iOS and Android. In a post on X, Google confirmed the cancellation and said it will instead bring many of AI Studio’s creation tools directly into the Gemini experience. The company is working alongside the Gemini app team to make building apps feel like a natural part of everyday conversations on phone or desktop. Google thanked the ~800,000 pre-order users, noting it’s clear people are interested in building software on the go, but it chose not to ask users to download another app. The web version of AI Studio remains a priority, with Google continuing to invest in it as the place for turning ideas into prompts, prototypes, or businesses. Google did not share a timeline for when the Gemini-powered AI Studio features will roll out, only saying both teams are actively working on the experience and more details will be shared later.
