Jev, a recently viral large model, announced it is open to all users with no waitlist application required. All registered users will receive a $5 credit, equivalent to around 120 million Tokens. Jev consumes far fewer Tokens than ordinary large models; some netizens tested that processing 1 million input Tokens costs only 0.042 cents, so the 120 million free Tokens are more than enough for unrestricted use. Its developer, Diogo Almeida, is a researcher at OpenAI who participated in the R&D of ChatGPT and later proposed the Reinforcement Learning from Human Feedback (RLHF) algorithm. Two years ago, Almeida left OpenAI and founded TypeSafe AI with Erik Gafni and Sasha Sheng. The company operated in stealth mode until its official debut on September 15, bringing a $40 million seed round financing led by DCVC and Jev. Jev is still a Transformer-based model but deliberately not a large language model and will not output a complete sentence. Given a piece of program state and a predefined question, it returns a typed answer, an option, a score, or a probability between 0 and 1, plus a confidence score, which TypeSafe calls a "calibrated decision."
