Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy laid the foundation stone for Amazon Web Services’ (AWS) hyperscale data centre at Bharat Future City on Wednesday, with an investment of Rs 60,000 crore by Amazon in Telangana over the next decade. The Telangana government has allocated 202 acres in Future City alongside 98 acres in Chandanvelly, granting incentives and concessions worth Rs 125 crore to the company. Construction of the first phase will be completed within 24 months, with subsequent expansions spanning the next 10 years. CM Revanth termed the data centre a ‘stepping stone’ and laid out the vision for Telangana Rising-2047, aimed at driving the state toward a $1 trillion economy by 2034 and a $3 trillion economy by 2047. He also announced a plan to double Telangana’s share in the national GDP from the current 5 to 10 per cent. The Chief Minister challenged Amazon to increase its investment to Rs 1 lakh crore by 2034 and committed to hosting dedicated monthly monitoring meetings for Amazon’s developments.
