New-generation Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) are widening access to advanced AI education beyond major metropolitan areas and elite academics, contributing to the decentralisation and democratisation of AI learning across the country. These institutions, located in less developed regions, reduce the concentration of advanced AI learning opportunities in only a few cities, giving students from smaller towns the chance to get high-quality AI education in their vicinity and lessening the financial and social costs associated with moving. Their AI curriculum is built on a firm foundation of mathematics, data science, and computer science, with advanced studies in ML, DL, and data-driven systems, and incorporates ethics, governance, and responsible innovation. The new-generation IITs are also becoming major players in India's AI research, creating settings for experimentation and interdisciplinary cooperation focused on AI in medicine, agriculture, and environmental conservation, as well as language processing and regional data issues.
