On July 9, Sungrow launched a commercial solid-state transformer for AI data centers, providing a full-stack 800V DC power architecture solution, with representatives from Microsoft, AWS, Alibaba Cloud, Tencent, ByteDance, and Baidu in attendance. The technology addresses bottlenecks from gigawatt-level power demand, where the floor area ratio between power and IT equipment has inverted from less than 1:1 to 10:1, annual electricity bills can reach billions of yuan, and commissioning time for hundred-megawatt facilities often exceeds one to two months. Sungrow’s SST achieves 98.5% peak efficiency while reducing power distribution footprint by 50%, with power density reaching 312 kW per square meter, covering 1.5 MW to 4.5 MW per unit. 2026 is considered the first year of SST commercialization; competitors include Delta Electronics, Wei Guang Energy, and Tgood. Analysts project the global SST market could reach 100 billion RMB by 2030. Sungrow has signed strategic procurement agreements with Dongyunguang for 30 MW capacity and Zhonglian Data Group for 100 MW, targeting 2026 for small-batch sampling with North American hyperscalers, 2027 for volume orders, and 2028 for large-scale deployment.
