The iPad A16 targets everyday learning, entertainment, and work, while the iPad Air M4 adds high performance and Apple Intelligence. The iPad Air M4 is thinner and lighter, at 6.1 mm thin and 464 g in the Wi-Fi version, versus 7 mm and 477 g for the iPad A16. Both have approximately 11-inch screens with the same 2,360 × 1,640 pixel resolution, 264 ppi density, 500 nits brightness, and True Tone support; the iPad Air M4 has a glued-on screen with an anti-reflective coating. The iPad A16 features a 5-core CPU, a 4-core GPU, and a 16-core Neural Engine, while the iPad Air M4 has an 8-core CPU, a 9-core GPU, 12GB of RAM, and a storage bandwidth of 120GB/second. Apple Intelligence is available only on iPad minis with the A17 Pro chip and iPads equipped with the M1 chip or later, so the iPad Air M4 is compatible while the iPad A16 is not; it supports text rewriting, summarizing, information retrieval, and image processing. The iPad A16 supports Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.3, and a USB-C port with USB 2.0 speeds, and is compatible with the Apple Pencil USB-C, the first-generation Apple Pencil, and the Magic Keyboard Folio.
