Elon Musk's artificial intelligence company xAI is expanding its supercomputer campus across the Tennessee-Mississippi state line, with six facilities planned across Whitehaven and Southaven, including two new data centers under construction in Southaven. The latest additions include facilities named "Gun Range," being built at the site of a former police and fire training center in Southaven, and "Spam," under construction at the southeast corner of Tulane Road and Stateline Road on the site of a former Hormel Foods building. According to Musk, the two new facilities are expected to become operational by the end of 2026. FOX13's reporting identified two data centers in Shelby County and three facilities in DeSoto County expected to be operational by the end of the year, with the latest expansion bringing the company's announced campus to six supercomputers. Residents say the growing footprint is bringing increased traffic, congestion and noise. Southaven resident Najja Proby, who lives just west of Tulane Road near one of the data centers, said conditions have changed dramatically, citing traffic, congestion and noise, and said he would consider selling his property if the price were right.
