Former AWS CEO Adam Selipsky is leading Helix, an AI hyperscale data centre firm backed by KKR, NVIDIA, and Vistra Energy, with more than US$10bn in committed capital. Founding investors include the Kuwait Investment Authority, NVIDIA, and Vistra. Helix will coordinate the deployment of facilities, energy generation, and connectivity for AI workloads, functioning as a single point of contact to address the fragmentation of separate transactions for real estate, power agreements, and network connectivity. Selipsky noted that in his 15 years helping build a US$100bn revenue business with AWS, he saw demand for compute outpace physical infrastructure. KKR will fund its anchor investment through its balance sheet and managed vehicles, and its digital infrastructure platform holds more than US$70bn invested across digital and power asset classes. Vistra will serve as the preferred power provider, operating generation assets across 18 states and Washington, DC. Jim Burke, President and CEO of Vistra, stated that power generation and grid interconnections are critical gating factors for AI infrastructure deployments.
