OpenAI CEO Sam Altman and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk are publicly feuding again after an Apple lawsuit against OpenAI became public. Altman wrote on X that "the most reliable way to tell" his company's latest model is the best is that "elon is obsessed with me again." The exchange followed Apple's lawsuit on Friday, which accused OpenAI, its hardware partner io, and two former Apple employees of stealing trade secrets. OpenAI responded that it has "no interest in other companies' trade secrets." Musk, who repeatedly called Altman "Scam Altman," also referenced his 2024 lawsuit against OpenAI, Altman, and OpenAI President Greg Brockman, which accused them of deceiving him out of early charitable contributions; a federal jury ruled against Musk in May, and he said he planned to appeal. Altman argued Musk was "selling public market investors on short-term space datacenters," and Musk replied that SpaceX would begin "flying them" next year. Musk and Altman cofounded OpenAI in 2015, but their relationship later fractured over control, funding, and the company's direction.
