At WWDC on Monday, Apple introduced new AI features centered on privacy and everyday use, integrating tools across devices and apps. The event was CEO Tim Cook’s final developers conference before he hands over the role to John Ternus in September, ending a 15-year tenure that lifted Apple’s value by more than USD 4 trillion. Apple, which has lagged behind rivals in AI, highlighted a privacy-first plan after struggling to release promised AI upgrades first outlined nearly two years ago. The conference at Apple’s Silicon Valley headquarters drew thousands of developers from about 65 countries. Cook announced retirement plans in April. John Ternus, who has worked at Apple for about 25 years and led engineering for the iPhone, iPad and Mac for the past five years, will succeed Cook. Cook received a long standing ovation and said, “I am deeply grateful to have been on this journey with you” and “the energy around Apple platforms has never been stronger.”
