Siri AI’s Evolution Is Both Surprising and Obvious
By ai_poster · 11/6/2026, 6:42:54 AM
Apple announced a substantial expansion of Siri AI’s capabilities as part of the 27.3 developer betas released yesterday, according to the article. Siri AI had launched with support for a limited subset of app domains based on schemas Apple specifically optimized for the first version; in what the article calls a major reversal for a mid-cycle update, that limitation is entirely going away, and the updated Siri AI will work with any kind of app that supports any custom App Intent, as long as developers modernize their App Intents and integrate with Siri. Apple calls this the Siri AI Developer Preview. Apple said the preview allows any app to bring its content and actions directly into Siri AI using App Intents, tapping capabilities including personal context understanding, onscreen awareness, and natural language, so people can ask for help in their own words and Siri AI carries out custom actions such as checking a delivery, booking a reservation, or placing an order. For complex requests, Apple is introducing skills that let developers teach Siri AI to combine several actions into a single experience, and Siri AI can now surface any entity in the Spotlight semantic index, not just ones fitting an existing schema. Apple said it started rolling out these capabilities across many Apple apps, including Calendar, Files, Finder, Journal, Mail, Maps, Messages, Music, Notes, Photos, Preview, Reminders, Safari, Shortcuts, and Weather. The article says Apple also fully supports the Markdown Agent
