Anthropic extended free access to Claude Fable 5 on all paid plans through July 19 — the third extension in five weeks — announced via its @claudeai account on X on Sunday night. Subscribers on Pro, Max, Team, and premium Enterprise plans can use Fable 5 for up to 50 percent of their weekly usage limits at no extra cost through July 19 at 11:59:59 PM PT, with a 50 percent increase to Claude Code weekly rate limits also extended through that date. After July 19, Fable 5 draws from prepaid usage credits at $10 per million input tokens and $50 per million output tokens. Fable 5 launched June 9 with free access through June 22, was shut down globally on June 12 due to an export-control directive, restarted July 1 through July 7 after controls were lifted on June 30, extended to July 12 on July 7, and then to July 19 on Sunday night. Claude Code lead engineer Thariq stated Anthropic aims to return Fable 5 as a standard part of subscriptions once compute capacity allows, with no timeline attached. On July 8, developer @chetaslua posted screenshots of a previously unknown model called "Claude Honeycomb EAP" that appeared inside Cursor's model selection menu and disappeared within hours, described as an "Anthropic research model with per-turn controls and safety fallbacks"
