Ann Altman is pushing a judge to dismiss the defamation suit her brother, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, brought against her, according to a TMZ report on August 11, 2026 (ET). She maintains her allegations of childhood sexual abuse are factual and denies his accusation that she defamed him. Ann objects to Sam describing her as having mental health issues, arguing he used that label in court filings and online to discredit and quiet her. In the new legal documents, Ann alleged the abuse left her with PTSD, mentioned Sam still sends her monthly money, and acknowledged he helped with bills and costs in the past. She said Sam once offered to purchase a house for her, which she turned down because of the conditions attached. Ann admitted to posting about the alleged mistreatment online but claimed she never named Sam directly, only referring to being harmed by "older siblings." She is asking the court to throw out Sam's counterclaims. As of this writing, Sam has not responded. In January 2025, Ann filed a civil suit in Missouri alleging sexual abuse and rape from 1997 to 2006 at their Clayton home, beginning when she was 3 and he was 12. Sam denied the allegations and countersued for defamation in March 2025. Ann's attorneys later withdrew from the case.
