Square announced a new ChatGPT app and Claude plugin on July 1, 2026, helping sellers get discovered and transact through AI-powered conversations. Eligible sellers are opted in with no additional work, setup, or fees required, and there is no API to build, no new tool to configure, and no added cost. Square Food & Beverage sellers in the U.S. with an activated Square Online Ordering profile are the first to go live. Customers can discover participating restaurants, browse menus, and place orders using Order by Cash App, which route directly into sellers' existing Square Online Ordering setup. Square does not charge additional marketplace commissions on orders placed through these integrations. Square is also working with Amazon to bring sellers into Alexa+ experiences, extending AI-powered discovery into voice commerce. Square collaborated with Partners Coffee, a Brooklyn-based specialty coffee brand, to develop and refine these experiences.
