A group of crypto and Web3 firms including OKX, MetaMask, Matter Labs and Genlayer have formed the “Internet Court” to reach dispute resolutions between AI agents, as agent-to-agent transactions will run into contractual disagreements but have no way to settle them, and traditional courts are not built to handle such cases. The 27-firm-backed protocol, led by the Genlayer Foundation, makes AI-based payments, escrow and dispute resolution interoperable, according to a press release. David Riudor, CEO and co-founder of the GenLayer Foundation, stated that “Internet Court is the shared place agents can turn to when a deal goes wrong. Machine-speed money needs machine-speed adjudication.” A key problem the protocol solves is interoperability between a variety of AI commerce systems, as the infrastructure is still highly fragmented. Albert Castellana, co-founder and CEO of GenLayer Labs, said “Internet Court makes them work together” and “turning a fragmented space into a single open skill that any agent can use.” GenLayer is using the MetaMask Smart Accounts Kit, including ERC-7710 delegations and its x402 Facilitator, as part of Internet Court, added Ryan McPeck, Smart Accounts Lead at MetaMask.
