Google Chrome is testing a new redesign on Android and iPhone featuring dual bars on the top and bottom, including a dedicated Gemini shortcut. The update, rolling out through the stable channel, introduces a top bar for the URL, share button, back button, and overflow menu, and a bottom bar for “New Tab,” tab management, and a Gemini button. The design still supports a full bottom-bar layout, now thicker to accommodate the Gemini shortcut. Google announced Gemini integration into Chrome in May, initially placing the button alongside tab management. This appears to be the start of a slow rollout; Google originally said Gemini in Chrome for Android would start rolling out at the end of June, which did not happen. Only one device is currently showing the new UI on our end, despite everything being updated and on the same settings. A similar UI was spotted on Twitter/X last month in the stable release, with slight differences due to an active homepage shortcut. A similar design also appeared for an iPhone user earlier this year.
