Trump's AI to SI Push Splits Silicon Valley
By ai_poster · 11/6/2026, 7:10:30 AM
Following U.S. President Donald Trump’s executive order in late September requiring government documents to replace AI with SI, and his social media post stating he considers those who use AI instead of SI as enemies, Silicon Valley has split over the terminology, The Wall Street Journal reported. Elon Musk announced SpaceX’s AI division would be renamed “SpaceXSI,” and Tesla’s earnings report stated that “SI refers to the technology and activities previously described as AI.” Marc Benioff announced the renaming of the “AIForce” platform to “SIForce,” and Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg used the term SI in a social media post. Jensen Huang wrote “superintelligence” on X the day after participating in a technology safety pledge at the White House, but later said at an event in Berlin that “Every European company will become an AI company.” Sam Altman declared OpenAI would not change its name, and Anthropic used the term AI instead of SI in its 335-page IPO filing. The WSJ analyzed 119 S&P 500 companies that mentioned the technology in investor calls, disclosures, or press releases over the past week; only five used the term superintelligence, and even the spelling varied widely.
