The Direxion Daily META Bull 2X ETF (NASDAQ:METU) delivers 200% of Meta Platforms' daily return using swaps and futures, resetting leverage each day to amplify short-term moves. Meta has committed between $130 billion and $145 billion to AI in 2026, with year-over-year CAPEX growth of 71.25%, up from approximately $72 billion in 2025. Despite this spending, META has dropped 30% over the past year and is down 15% year-to-date, pulling METU down nearly 60%. Since METU's June 2024 launch, daily compounding has cost investors, with the fund down 25% while META gained 13% over the same period. The fund seeks to deliver twice the daily performance of the stock, designed to gain roughly 4% if Meta rises 2% and lose roughly 4% if Meta falls 2%. Leverage is reset at the end of every trading day, and over longer holding periods, compounding from daily resets can cause returns to differ significantly from simply doubling Meta's performance. Meta's spending is directed toward AI infrastructure, data centers, and custom silicon to reduce dependency on Nvidia. The stock is up nearly 75% over three years, and as a Magnificent Seven member, many investors bet AI will drive future advertising revenue and earnings growth.
