Earlier this week, the company announced price reductions for its AI models: the ChatGPT-5.6 Luna by 80% and the GPT-5.6 Terra by 20%, while the flagship Sol model’s price remains unchanged. OpenAI told the Wall Street Journal that lower costs make more work viable and that adoption growth brings revenue, feedback, and demand visibility for further investment. Anthropic’s Claude Sonnet 4.6 costs $3 per million tokens for entry and $15 for exit, higher than Terra’s fees. OpenAI attributed the cuts partly to efficiency gains in GPT-5.6. The move follows OpenAI’s consideration of granting the U.S. government a 5% equity stake and comes as it pursues a $250 billion deal with Nvidia for a mega data center in Ohio, a 10-gigawatt project developed
